Stock Up on Ramen Noodles, College Prices Continue to Increase

Time to stock up on the ramen noodles. The College Board says the cost to attend college crept up again this year across higher education.

If you include room and board, the price tag on average is $18,943 for an undergraduate to attend a public four-year school as an in-state student. An out-of-state student pays on average $32,762. It cost a student at a private, nonprofit college $42,419, on average, if housing is included.

For-profit students are paying $15,230, but that doesn't include room and board.

The highest rate of increase of 3.7 percent was among private, nonprofit colleges.

The College Board says in its annual college cost report that the rates of increase were lower than students saw five, 10 or 30 years ago.
