A 22-year-old man is behind bars, accused of murdering a transgender woman in Dallas, police announced Thursday.

The body of 26-year-old Chynal Lindsey, a black, transgender woman, was pulled from White Rock Lake on June 1. She died of obvious homicidal violence, police said. Lindsey's death is one of four known attacks or murders aganst black transgender women since October of last year.

Dallas police said a passerby called about 5:45 p.m. after spotting the woman's body in the lake.

Ruben Alvarado was arrested and charged with first degree murder in Lindsey's death.

Police did not say what led them to develop Alvarado as a suspect, but they did say he is refusing to cooperate with detectives.

Alvarado is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

Lindsey's cousin, Tamaya Lindsey, spoke with NBC 5 Thursday evening and wanted to leave a message for Alvarado.

"I just want to know, 'How did you feel about after you realized that you took another human beings life?' Or, 'Do you just feel bad now because you're caught and you're trying to figure out how to get out of it?' Which you're not," she said. "And I just want you to know I'll be at every court appearance, even if it's just me."

Earlier this month, police arrested a different man and charged him with the murder of transgender woman Muhlaysia Booker. Kendrell Lavar Lyles, 33, was being held without bond in the Collin County Jail in McKinney. Lyles faces two other murder charges in the deaths of Leticia Grant and Kenneth Cichocki.

Booker's father told NBC 5 that Lyles knew both his daughter and Chynal Lindsey.
