Florida Driver Used Permanent Marker to Fake Vehicle Registration

If you want to avoid a night in jail and a hefty fine, don’t fake renewing your car’s registration with a black marker.

The Florida Highway Patrol tweeted a photo on Monday of a driver’s failed attempt to avoid paying the annual vehicle registration fee by poorly changing the date on the yellow sticker that goes on license plates.

The driver apparently used a black permanent marker to change the year on the sticker from a "17" to a scribbled "18."

The FHP sarcastically implied in the tweet that spending $70 to renew your tag the right way would spare drivers a night in jail and a substantial $500 fine.
