German Politician Sends Busload of Refugees to Merkel's Office

Officials in a small Bavarian community have sent a bus with 30 migrants aboard on a 340-mile journey to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Berlin office to protest the government's open-arms refugee policy, NBC News reported.

The move by Peter Drier, Landshut's elected district chief executive, fulfills a threat made in October, when he said he would act if the number of refugees exceeded housing capacity in his area.

"The housing situation in our region is very difficult and there is a good chance these people will become homeless," Elmar Stoettner, a spokesman for the district, told NBC News by telephone on Thursday. All the migrants had chosen to travel willingly, he said.
