Judge Releasing Boston Marathon Bombing Documents

Tsarnaev was convicted and sentenced to death last year for his role in the 2013 bombing.

A federal judge has begun releasing hundreds of documents in the case of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Tsarnaev was convicted and sentenced to death last year for his role in the 2013 bombing. Three people were killed and more than 260 injured when Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan placed two bombs near the finish line.

Prosecutors and Tsarnaev's attorneys recently submitted a list of more than 600 court filings and exhibits that both sides agree can now be made public.

U.S. District Judge George O'Toole Jr. on Tuesday ordered the documents unsealed. A court clerk began releasing them on Wednesday.

Among the documents being unsealed are search warrants, reports of expert witnesses and DNA reports.

Tsarnaev, 22, is being held at the federal Supermax prison in Colorado.

Earlier this month, he was ordered to pay $101 million in restitution to the victims of his crimes. O'Toole also denied his request for a new trial.
