A man charged with shooting a Boston police officer has been held $1.5 million bail.
Grant Headley appeared in court Monday morning, where a judge set his bail at $500,000 on drug charges and $1 million on a weapons violation and a charge of assault with intent to murder.
The drug charges stem from an alleged sale of crack cocaine on Jan. 5. Headley pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Headley is accused of shooting Officer Kurt Stokinger on Friday. Stokinger was shot in the leg but was released from the hospital Sunday and is expected to make a full recovery.
The 27-year-old Headley shouted during his arraignment that police had tried to "assassinate" him.
Headley's father previously apologized to the officer.
"I feel bad for the police. I hope everything works out fine, I hope he recovers," Grantley Headley said. "If he did it, he's wrong to do it. It's pretty sad."
Grant Headley's court-appointed lawyer argued for $25,000 bail, saying her client has always shown up for court.
