Person Killed in Delaware House Fire on Mother's Day

One person was killed and another five were hurt in a fire at a Delaware home on Mother's Day.

Firefighters from the Frederica Fire Company saw flames shooting from the one-story home when they responded to the 1900 block of Reynolds Road around 10:30 a.m. Crews brought the flames under control around 12:30 p.m.

A person was found dead inside the home, while five other occupants were hurt.

The chief of the Frederica Fire Company told NBC10 the person who died was the mother of at least one of the residents. The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office told NBC10, however, that they have not yet confirmed this and are still working on identifying the victim.

Four of the injured residents were taken to Milford Memorial Hospital and released after treatment. The other injured person, an elderly man, was flown to Kent General Hospital and later transferred to the Crozer Medical Center in Upland, Pennsylvania. He is currently in critical condition.

Officials say the fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage. Fire marshals continue to investigate the fire's origin and cause.
