Woman Arrested at JFK Had 4 Pounds of Cocaine in Her Underwear: Customs Agents

A woman was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport last week after customs agents say she tried to smuggle 4 pounds of cocaine into the country in her underpants.

Olive Fowler of Guyana was arrested on federal narcotics smuggling charges after customs agents allegedly found a white powder concealed in her underwear and a girdle during a screening after a flight from her home country, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Fowler allegedly acted nervously while customs agents looked through her suitcase during an inspection on April 12. She was pulled aside to a private screening room, where customs officers searched her body and found the powder in her underwear and girdle.

The substance tested positive for cocaine, and Fowler was arrested and turned over to federal agents.

The drugs have an estimated street value of more than $73,000, customs agents say.

It's not clear if Fowler has an attorney.
