A Massachusetts native who survived the Orlando nightclub shooting took his first steps Friday since getting shot in the leg in the June tragedy that claimed 49 lives.
Angel Colon, of Framingham, posted a video to his Facebook page, showing the 26-year-old taking his first steps "all by myself."
"Ahhhh Took my first Steps all by Myself!!!!!! SO HAPPY!!! #OrlandoStrong #AngelStrong #LoveIsLove," he wrote.
Colon was critically injured when the gunman, identified as 29-year-old Omar Mateen, opened fire at the gay nightclub Pulse near downtown Orlando on June 12. Mateen, who died in a shootout with police pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group during a call with police dispatchers during a three-hour standoff.
The massacre is the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.
