Police: Naked Manassas Man Bites Dog, Off-Duty FBI Agent

Police say he bit his 5-year-old Labrador-boxer mix multiple times after smoking marijuana

A Virginia man under the influence of marijuana bit his dog, pushed his neighbor to the ground, wandered around a neighborhood naked and then bit an off-duty FBI agent in the span of just a few hours, police say.

An officer found 31-year-old Cory Michael Phillips standing in the middle of Nottingham Drive in Manassas naked about 8:35 a.m. Tuesday.

The officer believed Phillips was under the influence of an unknown substance and tried to detain him, but Phillips refused to respond to commands, police say.

During the struggle, an off-duty FBI agent stopped to help the officer.

At one point, the officer pepper-sprayed Phillips but police say the suspect came at the 51-year-old FBI agent. During a struggle with the agent and the officer, the suspect bit the agent on the neck, police said.

The officer eventually detained the suspect and took him to a hospital as a precaution.

Both the officer and FBI agent had minor injuries.

Police say they later discovered that Phillips had smoked marijuana earlier that morning inside his home and started acting erratically. He picked up his dog, a 5-year-old Labrador-boxer mix, squeezed it and bit the dog on the ears and chest, police said. The dog had minor injuries.

Phillips then went outside and pushed a 60-year-old woman to the ground who had attempted to intervene before officers arrived, police say. She was not hurt.

Phillips has been charged with malicious wounding, animal cruelty, possession of marijuana, assault and battery, obstruction of justice and public intoxication.

Phillips is now at the Adult Detention Center where he remains held without bond. A court date has been set for Mar. 5.
