Queens Killing Ends City Crime Record

A 28-year-old Queens man, who police said died of multiple gunshot wounds, has sparked the first homicide investigation in the city in 12 days.

The 12-day span was the longest stretch of days without a homicide investigation since the city began tracking that data in 1994.

Eric Roman was shot just before midnight Friday on 89th Street in Woodhaven, investigators said. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition with wounds to the head, hand and leg and died Saturday.

Police are still seeking a suspect in the shooting.
