1 Dead, 2 Injured in Shooting in Mayor Emanuel's Neighborhood

A man was killed and two others were injured in a shooting that took place blocks away from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel's family residence.

The Chicago Fire Department transported three victims at an apartment in North Center in the 1900 block of West Belle Plaine after the shooting that took place around 7:30 p.m.

A 23-year-old man shot in the face and a 25-year-old shot in the abdomen were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, the CFD and police said said.

A 25-year-old who was shot in the chest was declared dead at the scene of the shooting, police said. The man has known gang ties.

No motive was known and no other details were immediately available.

Detectives are investigating the incident.
