Milwaukee Bucks Player Sterling Brown Recalls Trying to Stay Calm During Arrest

"It was like, just stay calm, try to get out of the situtation," said Brown, who was stunned with a Taser in January

NBA player Sterling Brown said he tried to remain calm when Milwaukee police used a stun gun to take him down during his arrest for a parking violation this winter.

In an interview aired on ABC's "Good Morning America" Friday, the Milwaukee Bucks player said police pinned him down and held his hands behind his back, then used a Taser on him outside a Walgreens store Jan. 26.

An officer approached Brown for illegal parking, called for backup and six squad cars responded.

Brown said he gets mad every time he watches the police body camera video, which was publicly released Wednesday, because he was "pretty much defenseless."

He said it seemed like an "unnecessary" number of cars responded to what was a parking violation he could have simply gotten a ticket for: "The officer, he said he only wanted one squad car but they all came. From there, it was like, just stay calm, try to get out of the situtation."

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports three officers have been disciplined in the arrest, with suspensions ranging from two to 15 days.

Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales has said officers "acted inappropriately" during the arrest arrest. No charges were ever filed against Brown

Brown said he is suing in civil court to hold officers and the city accountable.

"This happens from coast to coast, it's something that's being shown more now that technology has advanced," he said. "I feel like me doing this, it helps a lot."
