Veterinarian Shot, Killed Neighbor's Dog For Barking Too Much: Cops

A veterinarian was arrested after she allegedly shot and killed her neighbor’s dog for barking too much.

Jefferson Parish officers responded to call about a dog being treated for a gunshot wound at a local veterinary hospital on Dec. 13. Officials said the dog was severely injured, and succumbed to its injuries a day later.

As detectives investigated the animal’s death, they turned their focus to Kelly Folse, the next-door neighbor of the dog’s owner. Folse also happened to be a veterinarian at the hospital where the dog was treated for its gunshot wound, but was not responsible its care following the shooting.

Investigators said Folse allegedly made several threats to the dog because she thought it was aggressive and barked too much.

After several interviews with neighbors, investigators found that the dog showed no signs of aggressive behavior prior to the incident.

Folse was arrested and charged aggravated cruelty to animals, illegal discharge of a firearm and drug-related charges.
