Westchester Police Officer Suspended Over Racist Facebook Photo

Police officials in Westchester County say an officer who posted a racist photo on Facebook has been suspended.

Officer Brad DiCairano, a 28-year veteran of the department, was suspended and relieved of his duty after posting the photo and a comment to Facebook. The department is conducting an internal review of the photo, and DiCairano could face additional discipline or firing.

Greenburgh Police Chief Christopher McNerney told The Journal News on Saturday he was "very troubled and disappointed" by the post.

The newspaper reports it obtained a screenshot of 28-year veteran Officer Brad DiCairano's post, which juxtaposed two images.

It says one is of black people on a minivan during the protests over Michael Brown's death in Ferguson, Missouri. It says the other depicts a white woman driving a car that's surrounded by baboons. The paper says the caption reads: "What can I say!"

McNerney tells the paper the 54-year-old officer was on vacation when the photo surfaced. He was suspended after an interview Monday.
