Aurora Shooting Victim Sent Final Text to Wife Before He Died

Terra Pinkard's husband Josh was killed on Friday afternoon

In the aftermath of the tragic shooting deaths of five people at an industrial complex in Aurora, Illinois, the wife of one of the victims said he had one final message for her before he died.

Terra Pinkard, whose husband Josh Pinkard was killed in the shooting, posted a long message to Facebook on Sunday, saying she learned of the shooting in a text message from him.

“I received a text at 1:24 from my precious husband that said ‘I Love you, I’ve been shot at work,’” Pinkard said in the post. “It took me several times reading it for it to hit me that it was for real.”

Pinkard goes on to describe the conversations she had with her children in the aftermath of the shooting, saying that she told them “their dad did not make it and he’s in heaven with Jesus.”

As we learn more about the tragedy, a community comes together to mourn in Aurora. NBC 5’s Lexi Sutter has the story.

Pinkard was the plant manager at the Henry Pratt Company, and had held the position since he relocated to the Aurora area in 2018. He was one of the five victims shot and killed by an employee who was fired by the company on Friday.
