Australia will deploy military forces to a global coalition fighting ISIS militants in response to the United States' request to become involved militarily in the conflict in Iraq and Syria, Reuters reported. In a deployment referred to as a “prudent and proportionate” contribution, by Prime Minister Tony Abbot, the force will comprise of 400 air force personnel and 200 special forces soldiers that will be based at a U.S. headquarters in the United Arab Emirates. Abbott said the deployment was to the coalition and that his government had not yet made the decision to commit troops to combat action.
