Brace yourselves suburban families of upstate New York--funnyman Ben Stiller is quite possibly headed your way. According to the Post, the actor, his wife Christine Taylor and their kiddos Ella and Quinlin were recently spotted checking out a modern glass abode in Cornwall-On-Hudson. The unique glass and steel home features this two-story living room that includes walls of soaring glass overlooking the picturesque Hudson River.
Located a mere 50 miles north of Manhattan (Stiller's hometown), this eco-friendly retreat is an ideal escape from the chaotic city life.
Unfortunately for the Stillers, they lost out on this masterpiece of a home. The house was reportedly just sold to Edward Doering, president of V-Twin Manufacturing, for $2.475 million. The home was originally listed for $3.45 million.
Even though the Stillers will have to keep looking for the perfect suburban pad, it's quite obvious why they were attracted to this sweet house. It was inspired by the Pompidou Center in Paris, which was constructed in the late 1970s.
The kitchen includes a breakfast nook, and is outfitted with a double Sub-Zero fridge, two dishwashers (one for each kid!), an indoor barbecue, and butler's pantry. There's even a second catering kitchen should this one get too crowded.
The home not only looks awesome, but it's eco-friendly as well. The architect ensured that the best materials were used, and most environmentally sensitive building practices instituted. such as harvesting the exotic white oak floors through environmentally responsible sources.
A floating spiral staircase is extended in the center of the home and it stretches four stories up to the observation deck. It may be fortuitous that the Stillers lost out on this home -- while the spiral staircase is stunning, it's not exactly kid-friendly.
There are four bedrooms in the swanky house, and the listing even states that all-together with pull-out sofas and the guest bedrooms, the home can easily sleep twelve adults.
The home is surrounded by spectacular upstate views, especially picturesque during these fall months.
Forget the thigh-burn and climb on up to the fifth floor to relish in 360-degree views. Suburban life isn't looking all that bad right about now!
Just months ago, the couple listed their Los Angeles compound for $11.495 million. The magnificent Outpost Estates abode was restored and updated and features ten bedrooms and eleven bathrooms. The couple and their two children allegedly relocated to the actor's hometown of New York City where the duo purchased an Upper West Side duplex in 2008 for $10 million. View the listing.
