Investigators said Wednesday that a female jewel thief who’s stolen millions of dollars worth of jewelry in the South is likely part of a sophisticated ring, NBC News reported.
The woman, working with a male accomplice, has already robbed six stores since April, prompting the FBI to launch a manhunt.
All the heists follow the same pattern. The woman cases a store, comes back the next day and chats with workers about an item. She then forces the employee to a back room with a gun, where she steals their keys and secures them with zip-ties.
"This is a very unusual case," Special Agent Lawrence Borghini of the FBI's Jacksonville, Florida, office told NBC News.
