Chicago Couple Gets Married on Float at Gay Pride Parade

Scotty Brown and Roger Knight were married near the corner of Broadway and Barry during the parade

Scotty Brown and Roger Knight were united in marriage during Chicago's gay pride parade with an audience of about 1 million people.

"It's very surreal right now," Brown said before the ceremony, which took place on a float. "We're very excited."

The Chicago couple was one of three who won a contest through the Thompson Chicago hotel to be married on a float during the parade. All expenses for their wedding and honeymoon are covered, but the couple only had one week to get ready.

"Every day has been something different, getting the rings, getting sized, getting the outfits together," Brown said.

The couple also spent the last week calling all their friends and family to invite them to their wedding. They asked everyone to wear white so they could more easily spot them in the crowd.

Brown, 32, and Knight, 31, met on a beach in Miami and have been dating for two and a half years. Their wedding comes just two days after the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in all 50 states.

Brown and Knight were married near the corner of Broadway and Barry towards the end of the route, which began at Montrose and Broadway in Uptown.

"I think we'll always have a story to tell of the way we got married and how it all came together," Knight said.
