Ringwald took to Twitter Thursday to show her gratitude to the doctor and airline for saving her father

Molly Ringwald took to social media Thursday to thank Southwest Airlines after the airline diverted a flight to assist her father, Robert Scott Ringwald, during a life-threatening medical emergency.

"We all love to publicly vent against airlines but today I would like to thank Southwest Airlines and the doctor who happened to be onboard." Ringwald wrote on Twitter. "Because of their speed and professionalism, my father's life was saved."

The airline responded to Ringwald's tweet stating "we are so happy to hear that your father was taken care of by our Crew today. We would love to follow up further so that we can recognize our Crew."

According to news reports the Austin, Texas-bound flight safely diverted to Albuquerque, NM, and was met by emergency medical crews who transported Ringwald to a local hospital. Robert Scott Ringwald is a well-known jazz pianist and has recorded multiple albums with his daughter and his Fulton Street Jazz Band.
