"She doesn't need my guidance when it comes to fashion. She doesn't listen to me." Back in 2005, Madonna told us Lourdes was her own (material) girl when it came to style and now that's proving to be truer than ever.
In Malawi with her mom this week, 12-year-old Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon (or Lola as she's called) was all grown up. Standing almost as tall as her five-foot-four inch Mom, she displayed her own flair for fashion with a punky Hello Kitty purse, skull scarf and layered bracelets.
U.S. & World
Photographed at age 5 in a Burberry skirt and holding a Burberry bag nearly as big as she was, Lourdes' style has now evolved into what Madonna calls "Sort of goth punk." Just like Mom, she's definitely daring in how she dresses - she's not afraid to mix colors and prints. Case in point, last Summer she rocked high-waisted red short shorts with striped black and white thigh high socks. Lace up thigh high boots are also a favorite. And she loves her 'dorky-cool' horn-rimmed glasses that she's been spotted with on more than one occasion.
Madonna admits that Lourdes does borrow some of her clothes (lucky girl!) but at an event last year, Lourdes told us it was her mom that took longer to get ready! Something tells me that could change any day now… and I can't wait to see how Lourdes continues to evolve!
