Glam Slam: Project Oscars!

Besides voting in your office Oscar pool, let's face it… you don't really have any say in the outcome of the big night. But in this political year of all things possible, Oscar fashion coordinator Patty Fox has created the "Oscars Designer Challenge" which allows YOU to pick a couture gown to grace the Oscar stage!

Patty asked up and coming designers to submit sketches and seven were chosen to make a gown and preview it on the runway. "We've actually looked for the emerging designer, a designer that's talented, has a collection, but maybe has not been on the red carpet before."

And just like fashionista favorite "Project Runway," this is a competition for the models too! The lucky lady who walked the runway in the winning dress will get to hand out the trophies on Oscar Night!

All seven gowns were specifically commissioned for this challenge and no direction was given to any of the designers. However, it's clear to see there is no "gray" area when it comes to one of this year's Oscar trends. All of the designers avoided bright color, instead focusing on black and white and various shades of gray.

Meet the Designers

Hot off her reign as the First Lady's designer of choice, Maria Pinto says she's anxious to see more of her clothes on the red carpet. "It kind of validates what you do and it encourages you to keep going forward." Maria's Oscar design is an ode to a modern day Marie Antoinette. Of the platinum jacquard strapless gown Maria says, "you have this beautiful fitted front which releases to these pleats in the back which kind of creates this sensual lasting impression."

He's dressed Michelle Pfeiffer, Debra Messing and Paris Hilton, but for the Oscars Alan Del Rosario is vying to dress his trophy girl in a strapless, black-lace over pink silk mermaid gown.

It all starts at the bottom for Marianne Kooimans who designed her shoes first and then created a black embroidered one shouldered gown to go with them.

Moire Conroy says her design is inspired by the 60's summer of love. The silver charmeuse and slate gray chiffon gown makes the model float like an angel down the runway.

Almost like a vest and a couture gown in one, Nicolas Putvinski's design features a flowy white gown with gray fluting detail on the bodice.

Robert Rodriguez is going for simple sophistication with his white silk, side-draped, Grecian gown. Very old Hollywood glamour and definitely one of my favorites!

But my vote has to go to Sam Kori George! His show-stopping platinum crepe lame strapless gown fit his model like a glove and the handmade orchid makes it just as sweet, as it is sexy.
