House Republicans are working to approve President Barack Obama’s request to equip and train moderate Syrian rebels, NBC News reported. The legislation, which explicitly does not authorize the deployment of U.S troops to combat Islamic militants, will likely be included as an amendment to a government funding bill that could pass this week. If the House passes the authorization and funding bill, it's likely the Senate will then take it up, and Congress could leave at the end of this week without planning to return until November 12.
