“Hangover” Party Begins Again, Leads MTV Award Nominations

"The Hangover" might not have received big love from the Academy this year, but it's won hearts in MTV land.

The raunchy comedy about a forgotten drunken evening was remembered in a big way -- beating out titans "Avatar" and "New Moon" for the greatest number of MTV nominations.

"The Hangover" received six nominations including best movie. Ken Jeong made the best of his limited screen time with a Best WTF Moment nomination (jumping out of a car trunk naked fits the description) and a best villain. Bradley Cooper is up for best comedic performance. Thankfully,  Zach Galifianakis was nominated as best breakout star and best comedic performance.

Voters did miss out on Mike Tyson's amazing cameo. And the best use of wandering chicken in a hangover scene. But that's really quibbling.

The movie was shut out of the Academy Awards despite much hype about the expanded field of 10 best pictures.

"Avatar" might be the biggest grossing movie of all time -- but it received only five nominations. The second movie in the "Twilight" series "New Moon" also received five.

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock received four each.

The winners will be announced at the MTV Awards on June 6 in the live ceremony hosted by "Parks and Recreation" actor Aziz Ansari.
