Have a Draft at Home

Miller-Coors brings the bar to you

Imagine. You pop open the fridge and bypass bottles and cans for a nice cold draft beer in the comfort of your own home.

After Miller-Coors LLC got settled into their new headquarters in Chicago in the last year, the country's second largest brewer has been busy creating the "Home Draft" of its popular Miller Lite and Coors Lite bear that comes in a 1 1/2-gallon box. Now, for $20, you can have fresh draft beer in your fridge for up to 30 days.

The system, which comes in an upright, recyclable container, is being tested in six cities including San Diego, Dallas and Pheonix. It is the latest effort by beer companies trying to tap (sorry, we had to include the pun) into a share of the shrinking marketplace.

Two notes: It's not meant to be drunk all at once and that draft beer taste will cost you about 15 percent more than its 18-beer counterpart.

Apparently, the party keg still has a purpose.
