Senate Fails to Advance Homeland Security Funding Bill

Senate Democrats blocked GOP efforts to advance a bill that would ensure funding for Homeland Security but defund the president's executive actions on immigration, NBC News reported. Democrats are demanding legislation that does not affect immigration. But Republicans have been unrelenting in their focus on the immigration actions, and have said that Democrats will be responsible for a lapse in funding. If Congress fails to pass legislation by the deadline at midnight on Friday, 30,000 Homeland Security personnel will be furloughed, with another 200,000 will need to continue to work without pay.
