Hurricanes and typhoons are shifting away from the equator and migrating towards Earth's poles, increasing the risk that deadly storms will strike unprepared coastal areas, NBC News reported. Experts looked at satellite data from 1980 onwards and found a global average shift of about 35 miles each decade. Their findings were announced in the peer-reviewed journal Nature and suggest a "pronounced poleward migration" that will have "potentially profound consequences for life and property."
