Javier Bardem's “Biutiful” Arriving in December

Javier Bardem's award-winning performance in Alejandro Gonnzalez Inarritu's "Biutiful" will soon hit American shores, now that the film has been picked up by the folks at Roadside Attractions and Liddell Entertainment.

The film stars Bardem as Uxbal, a down-and-out small time crook in Barcelona with two months to live. It debuted at Cannes this year, where the reception for the film overall was mixed, but generally positive. Bardem was named Best Actor for his performance.

"Biutiful" joins the growing pantheon of tremendous, groundbreaking work by Alejandro González Iñárritu,” said Howard Cohen, Co-President of Roadside Attractions, a press release that landed yesterday.   “It’s a deeply felt film, guaranteed to rock audiences to their core, and that’s due to the amazing  reciprocity between filmmaker and actor. Alejandro and Javier are two halves of the same whole.”

“Biutiful pairs the decade’s most exciting director with its most talented actor," added Mickey Liddell. "Simply hearing Alejandro’s and Javier’s names in the same sentence excited me – seeing the result of their collaboration on screen blew me away.”

Bardem is currently starring opposite Julia Roberts in "Eat Pray Love." We like him anyway.
