Jolie Eyed to Play Gucci-Killer

Angelina Jolie is being courted to play the woman who had Maurizio Gucci murdered just as he was planning to return the Gucci label to its lost glory.

Ridley Scott has been talking to Jolie about playing Patrizia Reggiano, in a film that "will chronicle the wild and glamorous story of the Gucci family in the 1970s and 1980s, when its 153 shops moved $500m in product annually," the director said when he first conceived the film.

In March of 1995, Maurizio Gucci emerged victorious from years of familial in-fighting to grab control of the label that had been made famous be his grandfather, Guccio Gucci.

Just as he was set to launch a new line by then unknown – and now world renowned – designer Tom Ford, Maurizio Gucci was shot dead outside his Milan apartment by a gunman working for his then ex-wife, Reggiano.

Two years later, Reggiano was sentenced to 29 years in jail for planning the murder.

Before Jolie can take on the role, she'll probably get to work on the thriller "The Tourist," co-starring "Terminator 4" breakout star Sam Worthington.

With the economy in the tank and everybody indulging in populist rage against rich people, now could be the perfect time to start telling stories about wealthy people doing terrible things to each other.
