The families of the Chinese passengers aboard the missing Malaysia Airlines jet lashed out at Malaysian authorities Monday, calling them "murderers," after Malaysia's prime minister abruptly announced more than two weeks after its disappearance that the plane was believed to have crashed into the Indian Ocean. The relatives slammed officials — from the airline, government and military alike — for having "continuously delayed, hid and lied" to them. "Give us back our relatives! Tell the truth!" they said. Earlier in the day, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said the flight had ended in the southern Indian Ocean west of Perth, Australia, citing a new analysis of satellite data. His announcement came moments after Malaysia Airlines sent a text to families of those aboard telling them the plane had been "lost" and "none of those on board have survived." In the latest sighting of possible debris, an Australian search plane spotted Monday an "orange rectangular object" and a "gray or green circular object."
