Matthew Broderick OKs Any “Ferris Bueller” Remakes

Actor wouldn't make cameo, but he still gives his blessing.

There's one safe bet in Hollywood: If a studio can remake a movie, it will.

In just the last few years, audiences have showed up to re-watch "Batman," "Fame," "3:10 to Yuma," and "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3." The list goes on.

So eventually, one could argue, a remake of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" will be coming to a theater near you.

And if it ever does, it will have Matthew Broderick's support.

In a recent interview with Cinematical, the original Ferris Bueller said he wouldn't want to be involved with any potential remakes, but he would still give the project his blessing.

"It would be fine. I would be perfectly happy for somebody to do that. They just redid Brighton Beach Memoirs on Broadway. I never got to see it, unfortunately, because I was doing a play. And that was a little strange to think of, just to be in an age where something can be revived or reinvented. But I found myself only wanting them to succeed. It was disappointing that it didn't last longer," Broderick told Cinematical.

The 47-year-old actor added that he would most likely turn down any cameos, saying, "I probably wouldn't enjoy that. I would rather leave what we did as our thing."
