Fourth-Grader Grills Condi on Torture

Condi got schooled by a fourth-grader.

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice may be well-versed in how to respond to "gotcha" questions -- but her skills were no match for one fourth grader.

Rice made her first public appearance in Washington, D.C., since leaving office at a Jewish Primary Day School where she fielded students' softball questions that had been developed beforehand with the help of teachers but had not been screened by Rice, the Washington Post reported.

Then one student asked, "What do you think about what President Obama's administration was saying about the methods the Bush administration had used to get information from detainees?"

The question was toned down from the student's original question, which asked if Rice if she would push for torture under the Obama administration, the Post reported.

"Let me just say that President Bush was very clear that he wanted to do everything he could to protect the country," Rice said. "But he was also very clear that we would do nothing that was against the law or against our obligations internationally. I hope you understand that it was a very difficult time."

Apparently there were no hard feelings, and Rice even posed for a solo photo op with the young student as they spoke about Russia, the Post reported.
