Storms Kill 4 in New York State, Child in Md.

Severe wind storms hit the northeast on Tuesday evening, killing four in New York state and a child at a Maryland summer camp, authorities said. The most severe damage came in the town of Smithfield, east of Syracuse, New York, where a storm destroyed at least four homes and killed four people, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said. In Maryland, a spokesman for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office told WBAL radio that one child was killed at River Valley Ranch near Manchester, north of Baltimore.
