Netanyahu: Nuclear Agreement Threatens “Survival of Israel”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed a preliminary agreement over Iran's nuclear program, saying it "would threaten the survival of Israel," NBC News reported. On Thursday, Obama announced a framework agreement in which Iran would agree to limits on its programs to enrich uranium and make weapons-grade plutonium— two methods of building a weapon— and agree to inspections in return for a lifting of crippling economic sanctions. While Obama has said the deal would "cut off every pathway that Iran could take to develop a nuclear weapon", Netanyahu said in his statement: "Such a deal would not block Iran's path to the bomb. It would pave it." Obama emphasized in a phone conversation with the Israeli leader that the progress of the deal does not eliminate concerns both countries have over Iran's sponsorship of terrorism and threats towards Israel.
