Patient's Own Immune Cells Tackle Cervical Cancer

At least two women with deadly cervical cancer are alive today, because of a new treatment which finds immune cells in their own bodies that attack the tumors, NBC News reported. A treatment used before in melanoma, and a rare bile duct cancer, it is now working for some patients with cervical cancer, researchers told a meeting of cancer specialists with the American Society for Clinical Oncology. The procedure has helped a third of patients that were considered terminal.
