Woman Pleads for Help in 911 Call After Baby Cut From Womb

A pregnant woman was attacked and had her baby cut from her womb when she responded to a Craigslist ad posted by a stranger, police in Colorado said Wednesday, NBC News reported. On the 911 call to police, the woman could be heard pleading for help with a meek voice. "I'm pregnant. She cut me in my stomach— I'm afraid," the woman, who has not been identified, said to the dispatcher. The victim — who had been seven months pregnant — and alleged assailant didn't know each other and were supposed to be meeting at the suspect's home about an ad for baby clothes she posted to the site, according to NBC affiliate KUSA. The alleged assailant showed up at a local hospital with the dead baby, claiming to have had a miscarriage, Longmont police said. The suspect, a 34-year-old female, is facing charges of first-degree attempted murder, assault and child abuse. The victim underwent surgery and is expected to survive, police said.
