An injured sea turtle has avoided euthanasia thanks to an Israeli industrial design student who created prosthetic flippers for the turtle modeled off the tail of a U.S. F-22 Raptor fighter jet, NBC News reported. The turtle—named Freedom—lost both flippers to fishing nets, leaving him unable to swim and breathe properly. Rescuers thought they'd have to put the turtle down, until student Shlomi Gez came along.
