Seattle OKs $15 Minimum Wage, Nation's Highest

Seattle lawmakers have unanimously approved a $15 hourly minimum wage — in a move set to give the city the nation's highest minimum wage. The ordinance, which phases in the increase over time, will take effect next April. It was was drafted by an advisory group of labor, business and nonprofit representatives convened by Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, and it was passed Monday by the Seattle City Council. Seattle’s higher minimum wage surpasses San Francisco’s minimum of $10.74 an hour.
