A single mother's promise to give her kids a normal life was challenged when her kindergartener came home with a note saying the school was having a "dads and doughnuts" breakfast.
Whitney Kittrell knew she had to keep that promise - and she did.
She put together her best dad outfit, painted on some facial hair and took her son to the breakfast.
"I was so embarrassed but I couldn't help but smile when he introduced me to his little friends saying 'this is my mom... she's my dad too so I brought her,'" Kittrell wrote in a Facebook post that has since gone viral.
Her embarrassment was overshadowed by her son's gratefulness.
After the breakfast, her son ran after her and whispered the some of the sweetest words any parent could hear: "mom... I know you'll always be there for me and do anything for me. Thank you. I love you."
Kittrell says she's accomplished many feats while fulfilling her promise to her kids including teaching them how to play catch and killing bugs with minimal screaming.
