Snowfall in Midwest and Northeast Turns Deadly

The snowfall plaguing the Northeast and the Midwest turned deadly Tuesday when New Hampshire police found the body of a homeless man in the snow after a night of subzero temperatures. The body of Matthew M. Harriman, 49, was found near a campsite where he was believed to have lived. His death was likely due to exposure to the elements, according to a Claremont police statement. In New York, a 30-car pileup was blamed on black ice on an expressway, NBC New York reported. The weather has also hampered travelers, with 460 takeoffs and arrivals scrapped at the New York and Boston airports. Inbound flights at New York's LaGuardia International Airport were running an average of 2ΒΌ hours late because of snow and ice. The new storm may dump as much as 10 more inches of snow on parts of Maine and several inches in the major cities of the Northeast.
