Pair Accused of Stealing Over 70 Lawn Decorations from Yards

The alleged thieves are accused of swiping the ornaments and statues in the middle of the night, police say

Police on Wednesday arrested two people in California suspected of stealing dozens of lawn statues and ornaments from Thousand Oaks homes and selling them at swap meets, officials said.

Brian Nissen, 29, and Laura Guziak, 31, are accused of swiping more than 70 pieces of lawn decorations including statues, malibu lights, and other ornaments, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Tips from the public helped lead police to the pair, investigators said.

When police arrived to their home, they found the lawn loot along with methamphetamine and cash, officials said.

The thefts happened in the middle of the night, and similar thefts were reported in Camarillo and Ventura, sheriff's officials said.

Nissen and Guziak have been booked on suspicion of grand theft, conspiracy, and possession of stolen property, drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance.

Police are asking any residents who have had similar items stolen to contact Thousand Oaks Police Department Detective Greg Delarosa at 805-494-8225 to see whether any of their property was recovered.
