Tedy Bruschi Opens Up About Second Stroke in Instagram Post

Less than a week after suffering his second stroke, New England Patriots legend Tedy Bruschi took to social media to describe his experience and raise awareness about stroke symptoms. 

The former linebacker wrote on Instagram that he lost use of his left arm on the morning of July 4. 

"I then tried to speak and realized I was slurring my speech," Bruschi wrote in the post, which also included a graphic about stroke symptoms. "As I turned to my wife, she noticed the left side of my face was drooping."

He added that he is doing "much better" since then and thanked everyone for "all your kind thoughts and prayers." Bruschi was released from the hospital on Friday, according to a statement from the Patriots.

Arm weakness, face drooping and speech difficulties are common signs someone is suffering from a stroke. Other symptoms include eyesight changes and balance difficulties.

The Centers for Disease Control says someone in the U.S. suffers a stroke every 40 seconds and someone dies of one every four minutes. If you or a loved one are experiencing a stroke, call 911 immediately.
