“Toy Story 3” Is Coming To Blow Your Mind And Make You Cry

Since the releases of both “Avatar” and “Alice in Wonderland,” it’s become clear that 3D movies are not only here to stay, but that they’ve brought the movie business up to a whole new stratosphere of profitability. With these recent grosses, it feels like when the NBA finally instituted a shot clock. There could quickly come a day when $400 million grosses are routine, and the mind-blowing success of “Avatar” is somehow topped.

There is no shortage of movies ready to capitalize on this new paradigm, and the biggest one on the horizon, undoubtedly, is Pixar’s “Toy Story 3,” which hits theaters June 18 in full 3D. Imagine that. The storytelling power of Pixar united with the immersion effects of James Cameron. It’s gonna be a behemoth, and Nicole Sperling of Entertainment Weekly, who saw a rough cut of the movie recently, says the movie deserves hype:

The film is great. Not only do the latest adventures of Buzz Lightyear and Cowboy Woody maintain the high quality that we’re used to seeing with Pixar movies, but this one is also exceptionally emotional. I was surrounded by a group of adults and there were many tears shed throughout the film.

Again with the tears. Could Pixar, for once, make a movie that doesn’t reduce me to a blubbering pile of jelly? I can be spectacularly entertained without being emotionally traumatized, you know.

Anyway, it looks like Pixar has yet another winner on its hands. More important, it will now have 3D on its side, AND the return of Woody, Buzz, the big green T-Rex (my personal favorite), and the whole beloved “Toy Story” universe going for it as well. Best reserve a ticket NOW. This one will be huge.
