The corruption trial of former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell has him trying to prove that his wife's infatuation with the former CEO of a dietary supplements company is proof that the married couple didn't try to conspire to receive luxurious gifts, including a Rolex and a Louis Vuitton shopping spree, NBC News reported. The best way for McDonnell and his wife, Maureen, to stay out of jail is to convince the jury that she let herself be showered by gifts while he tried to deal with a wife who "hated him." The CEO, Jonnie Williams, is the prosecution's star witness and says Bob was aware of the gifts and that he helped promote Williams' company, Star Scientific.
