U.S. Relocates Some Staff From Embassy, Consulate in Iraq

The U.S. has removed some staff from its embassy in Baghdad and its consulate in Erbil because of the threat posed by Islamic militants, the State Department said Sunday. The State Department also released a travel warning on Friday cautioning U.S. citizens going to Iraq that there is a "high risk for kidnapping and terrorist violence." It warned that the ability of the U.S. Embassy to help U.S. citizens in the country is "particularly limited" because Americans living there are under "strict security guidelines" due to the turbulent environment.
