Dow Plunges 318, Closes Worst Week Since 2011

Stocks on Wall Street plummeted Friday, with the Dow shedding more than 300 points as U.S. markets followed Asian and European ones into the red amid concern for global currencies and economies. The Dow's dismal finish -- down 318 points at the closing bell -- marked the worst day of trading since June and closed out the blue chip index's worst week since November 2011, CNBC reported. The S&P 500 and NASAQ were also down sharply, while the VIX "fear" index jumped. The rout came after Argentina and Turkey's currencies fell sharply against the U.S. dollar, with Turkey's lira hitting a record low amid political uncertainties.
