The ring was worth $10, Odessa police said

Police in West Texas have arrested a woman recorded on surveillance video stealing a ring from a corpse at a funeral home, police say.

Kalynn Homfeld, 41, has been charged with theft from a human corpse, a state jail felony, after Odessa police said she slipped a ring valued at $10 off a deceased woman at the Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Police on Monday released security video of the woman seen entering a viewing room at the funeral home, reaching into an open casket and fumbling to remove something from the female corpse.
