2022 MLB trade tracker: Listing every transaction before deadline originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

The 2022 MLB trade deadline has come and gone.

Teams across the league made quick decisions, determining whether to go all-in for a postseason push or retool for the future. A number of impact players – including Juan Soto, Noah Syndergaard, Whit Merrifield and more – were dealt prior to Tuesday’s deadline.

Trades came in fast and furious, making it hard to keep up with your Twitter timeline.

To recap it all, here’s a list of every trade leading up to the 2022 deadline in reverse chronological order:

August 2: Reds get Austin Romine from Cardinals

After selling off a number of players, Cincinnati added catcher Austin Romine from the Cardinals just before the deadline. St. Louis designated Romine for assignment after activating Yadier Molina from the IL, so this deal is Romine for cash considerations.

August 2: Raisel Iglesias traded from Angels to Braves

Atlanta strengthened its pitching staff as it gears up to defend the World Series. Iglesias was an elite closer for the Angels in 2021, though he has regressed to a 4.04 ERA this season after signing a four-year contract last winter. Pitchers Tucker Davidson and Jesse Chavez head to the Angels in the deal.

August 2: Royals send Whit Merrifield to Blue Jays

Whit Merrifield is going to Toronto… we think. The former Royal is unvaccinated, so he is technically ineligible to play home games at the moment. The belief is that the two-time All-Star will get the shot and join a Blue Jays team that is ready to contend.
