Baseball Star Yasiel Puig in Florida Arrest Video: “Please Don't Do This to Me”

The Dodgers' star is accused of going 110 mph in a 70 mph zone

Authorities have released dashboard camera video of Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig's arrest in Collier County after he allegedly sped by an Florida Highway Patrol trooper at 110 miles per hour with his mother in the car.

Video of the arrest became available Tuesday, in which the young slugger dressed in pink shorts and flip flops pleads to be released from custody on Dec. 28. He was charged with reckless driving.

Puig was behind the wheel of a 2013 Mercedes going westbound on Alligator Alley when a FHP trooper traveling in the opposite direction said he clocked Puig going 110 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Footage shows the trooper pull Puig over and scold him for putting the lives of his passengers and other drivers at risk.

"(Puig) is probably going to jail, I'm going to tell you that right now," the trooper tells the occupants of the car.

When asked why, the trooper says, "Why? For reckless (driving), Ma'am – 110 miles an hour? One, two, three lives at risk? ... You tell me."

A short moment later, the trooper asks the Cuban native in Spanish, "Is this your mother?"

When Puig responds that she is, the trooper – apparently surprised by the answer – says in English, "Oh, you're going to jail."

The trooper orders Puig to step out of the car. Puig reluctantly emerges from the car and is handcuffed.

"Sir, please don't do this to me," Puig tells the trooper in Spanish after being taken into custody. He is later heard cursing as he sat in the back of the patrol car.

Along with Puig and his mother, two other people were in the car.

Puig lives in Miami during the offseason.

Earlier in 2013, Puig was also arrested in Chattanooga, Tenn. and charged with speeding, reckless driving and driving without proof of insurance, according to the Los Angeles Times.
